“The second film has been retitled ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.’ The third film will take the title that was previously assigned to the second film, ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again.'”[THR]
Yes, movie lovers, another Peter Jackson Hobbit-centric trilogy is headed to a cinema hall near you, thanks to the decision by Warner Bros. and Jackson to release what was to have been two movies as three separate three-hour long epic movies that can only rival the original Lord of the Rings trilogy. In case you’re as confused as we all were at the beginning of this reassignment of titles in The Hobbit trilogy, let me break it down as simply as possible. The three films will be:
1. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Opens December 14, 2012
2. The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug - Opens on Dec. 13, 2013
3. The Hobbit: There and Back Again - Opens on July 18, 2014
And that, as Gandalf would say, is good enough, Frodo.
