So these Ashlee Simpson bikini photos are from last week but since we’re wrapping up the year with all these leftover we figured some folks might enjoy looking at the skinny Simpson sister. So Ashlee was on the island of Oahu taking a vacation with her son Bronx and mother Tina along with newlyweds CaCee Cobb and Donald Faison. Jessica and husband Eric avoided photographs but their 7 month old daughter, Maxwell Drew, was seen with mother Tina. Ashlee recently split with Boardwalk Empire actor Vincent Piazza, whom she’d been dating for a year and a half.

Crunch time: final week of the regular season in the NFL

Now that the Holidays are almost over, it means one thing in the NFL. The playoffs are about to begin. We’re not quite there as we still have one final week and there’s still much to decide throughout the league. All of the teams in the AFC are set but the seeding still hasn’t been decided. Houston holds the top spot for now but both Denver AND New England can take over but Houston showed a couple of weeks ago that it can handle the Colts, now they’ll have to do it on the road. It’s hard to believe that Denver will love to the Chiefs so I think Manning and co can be confident they’ll see a first round bye. I think the rest of the seeding in the AFC will stay the same but the road going forward could change depending on the top 3 teams.

The NFC is a bit more complicated because there are still two spots up for grabs and five teams with possibilities of taking that position. Also up for grabs are the NFC West and East division titles. The Seahawks could still take the West and while it might seem like a tall order, the 49ers are battling lots of injuries but the flip side is that they’re playing the Cardinals who haven’t been good in months. I think it’s going to be closer than expected but I still believe that the Niners will win the game the division. Once again my Cowboys are in a do-or-die situation in the final week of the season, going up against RG3 on Sunday night (was anyone surprised this game got flexed?) for all the division marbles. The Cowboys must win but the Redskins don’t necessarily have to, as they can still clinch a wild card but they would need help from other teams. Those teams are up in the North division where the Vikings win and they’re in but the Bears will watching closely as they need a win with a Vikings loss to get into the postseason.

Tons of fireworks expected Sunday as the final week of the 2012 NFL season is here. My take: I think the AFC picture stays pretty much the same but if I had to bet, i’d say the Broncos take over the 1 seed. Nothing else there. I think Purple Jesus carries the Vikings into the postseason (MVP secured?) and my Cowboys are able to take care of business to make the postseason. It’s time, i’m tired of Romo and co being labeled as chokers and not being able to win the big game.

Things are going well for Bradley Cooper. Actually, they’re going a little too well, thanks to the slew of box office successes he’s enjoyed in recent years and now critical acclaim being heaped upon his latest release, Silver Linings Playbook. Check out the terrific and insightful new profile of his career and history as an actor from The Hollywood Reporter which chronicles his path to success.

An interesting tidbit: “Cooper never struggled to find work. Before he even finished at the Actors Studio, he had booked a pilot, albeit one that wasn’t ultimately picked up. His first part in a project that did come to fruition was Jake, “the downtown smoker,” opposite Sarah Jessica Parker in a 1999 episode of Sex and the City. And the part that first put on a lot of people’s radar came just two years after that, when he began a three-year run as Will Tippin, a friend of Jennifer Garner’s character on ABC’s Alias. For that series, he relocated from New York to Los Angeles, which he says also afforded him the opportunity to audition for many other interesting projects.”

What do Batman, Bilbo Baggins, and a red-headed Pixar princess have in common? They have all grossed hundreds of millions of dollars at the global box-office in the year that was 2012, though none of them quite as much as the mega epic hugely gargantuan blockbuster that was Disney’s The Avengers. Now the third highest grossing film of all-time, The Avengers assures audiences that superhero movies will be a regular feature of American moviegoing life. Just like action movies starring a secretly anti-semitic Mel Gibson in the 80s and romantic comedies starring Meg Ryan were in the 90s.

The top grossing movies of the year include (in no praticular order) Skyfall, Brave, The Hobbit, Madagascar 3, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 2, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Hunger Games and, of course, The Dark Knight Rises. Click on the link to see the films in proper order according to actual grosses to date.

Somehow (and I’m not sure how) the fourth Ice Age also managed to worm its way into the top ten. Gasp: does this mean there will be a fifth?!? Dear gawd, let it be a straight to DVD release!

Movies to Watch Out For in 2013

2012 is officially the biggest year in box office history . . . and no, it’s not just because of the 3D ticket sales. The actual number of tickets sold also went up substantially, the first time that’s happened in almost a decade.

Which is why 2013 has some major movies lined up for audiences, among them Johnny Depp’s The Lone Ranger, the third Hangover, a new Star Trek, and the Ryan Gosling-Emma Stone noir-ish Gangster Squad. And tops on our list is Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby.

Coming soon (well, in February, to be exact) is the hilarious tale of identity theft starring everyone’s favorite dry funnyman Jason Bateman and the born scene stealer that is Melissa McCarthy. Bateman plays a man named Sandy (yes, as in the Hurricane) whose identity is stolen by a hustling piece of trailer trash also known as . . . Sandy. When he tracks her down to get his identity back and dispense some justice Arrested Development style, things go hilariously awry.

Federline Brother Claims He Fathered Britney Spears’ Son

“Christopher Federline, brother of Kevin Federline, has claimed that he is the father of Britney Spears’ son, Sean Preston.”[Heat]

Well, this one deserves a collective GROOOAAAN! Christopher Federline, erstwhile brother of the ex-Mr. Britney Spears, is alleging that he is the real daddy of Sean Preston.

According to papers filed in court against Spears by Christopher Federline “it was claimed that Britney stole [Christopher’s] credit card from Kevin, her then husband’s, house and allegedly went on to spend almost £3000 on comic books and magazines. In addition to this, it’s been reported that Christopher claims to have been blackmailed by the 31-year-old who said that she would go public with the revelation that he is the father of her eldest child. If true, this would mean that Sean Preston was conceived and born whilst Britney was still married to Kevin.”

Just when you thought Britney was moving forward, this happens. I guess this proves the old adage: “You can take the girl out of the trailer park . . .” As for the brothers Federline, we can’t really print what we think of them. (But you can certainly guess!)
