“Although Pi didn’t register in any of the acting categories, it still managed to amass the second highest number of nominations — 11.”[THR]

It’s the second Thursday of the new year, which means the Oscar nominations are out! Like everyone expected, Lincoln led the pack with 12 nominations, including one in every major category. Tom Hooper’s much acclaimed Les Miserables also picked up a hefty number of nominations, though Hooper himself was locked out of the Best Director category (huh?). Kathryn Bigelow and Ben Affleck were also snubbed from the Best Director category, though both Zero Dark Thirty and Argo were nominated for Best Picture.

Want to start laying bets on who wins? I’ll go first: as I’ve said nearly every day here since Christmas, Anne Hathaway will win the Best Supporting Actress Oscar. Helen Hunt was terrific in The Sessions, but Hathaway was transcendent.

Here is a list of all the major nominees announced today:

1. Best Picture: “Amour,” “Argo,” “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” “Django Unchained,” “Les Miserables,” “Life of Pi,” “Lincoln,” “Silver Linings Playbook,” “Zero Dark Thirty.”

2. Actor: Bradley Cooper, “Silver Linings Playbook”; Daniel Day-Lewis, “Lincoln”; Hugh Jackman, “Les Miserables”; Joaquin Phoenix, “The Master”; Denzel Washington, “Flight.”

3. Actress: Jessica Chastain, “Zero Dark Thirty”; Jennifer Lawrence, “Silver Linings Playbook”; Emmanuelle Riva, “Amour”; Quvenzhane Wallis, “Beasts of the Southern Wild”; Naomi Watts, “The Impossible.”

4. Supporting Actor: Alan Arkin, “Argo”; Robert De Niro, “Silver Linings Playbook”; Philip Seymour Hoffman, “The Master”; Tommy Lee Jones, “Lincoln”; Christoph Waltz, “Django Unchained.”

5. Supporting Actress: Amy Adams, “The Master”; Sally Field, “Lincoln”; Anne Hathaway, “Les Miserables”; Helen Hunt, “The Sessions”; Jacki Weaver, “Silver Linings Playbook.”

6. Directing: Michael Haneke, “Amour”; Benh Zeitlin, “Beasts of the Southern Wild”; Ang Lee, “Life of Pi”; Steven Spielberg, “Lincoln”; David O. Russell, “Silver Linings Playbook.”

Surprised Leo didn't get a nod. But yay for Christoph Waltz..Hope he gets it.

Also wtf, how come you snubbed Bigelow??? I haven't seen Argo so I can't really say anything about it, but Affleck's The Town and Gone Baby Gone are fantastic. He makes a better director than actor, so I'm just gonna trust people when they said he got snubbed.
