Former United States Prez and Current President of the World (and possibly future First Man) Bill Clinton made a surprise appearance last night at the Golden Globes ceremony to introduce the film Lincoln to the Hollywood crowd seated at the Beverly Hilton.
After getting a standing ovation from a room full of the most powerful liberals in the world (Dubya wouldn’t have stood a chance; the ghost of Nixon would have fared better), Clinton summed up Steven Spielberg’s movie with his usual wordiness punctuated with a smile and a wink: “A tough fight to push a bill through a bitterly divided House of Representatives. Winning it required the president to make a lot of unsavory deal that had nothing to do with the big issue. I wouldn’t know anything about that,” he said to laughter.
The best bit, however, was Amy Poheler’s reaction to Clinton exiting the stage. The SNL alum and co-host of the evening remarked excitedly, “Wow, what an exciting special guest: That was Hillary Clinton’s husband!” Tina Fey chimed in by calling him “Bill Rodham”.
