As Aaron Hernandez continues through the long and tedious process of criminal prosecution, more and more details begin to surface about what exactly was going on with him in the few weeks prior to his arrest. Clearly Hernandez was a troubled young man. That much is known as being a murder suspect during the prime of your athletic career has to come with some baggage. It’s obvious that he was involved with the wrong kind of people but on a personal level it’s now being known that Hernandez’s troubles were actually much deeper. This article by Rolling Stone magazine was released in full just hours ago. The subject is clearly Aaron Hernandez but the longevity along with the details presented in it are what make it so compelling. If you have the time, i’d definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in Hernandez or is simply a fan of great articles. Writers Paul Solotaroff and Ron Borges do an excellent job of detailing how much Hernandez was dealing with in the weeks prior to his arrest. Specifically his drug problems and his lack of commitment with anything have to do with the Patriots. According to this article, coach Bill Belichick was very close to simply cutting Aaron from the team because he was missing practice and didn’t seem interested in giving any sort of effort.
Although it had been somewhat known (rumored) around the organization that Hernandez was a heavy marijuana user, this new revelation about his use of PCP. Or angel dust, as it’s referred to when using slang. Because of this particular drug, Hernandez was extremely paranoid and actually carried a gun most of the time. Add that to the fact that he was involved with some not-so-nice individuals and it had all the makings of something bad happening. Other details include that Hernandez was with Odin Lloyd (the man he allegedly killed) in a night club a couple of nights before the murder and details of them getting a scuffle. There’s a lot more in the article but what jumped out at me was that moving forward now, nothing that’s revealed about Aaron Hernandez’ troubles will surprised me. In terms of “using this drug” or “involved with this person” because at this point, things just look more and more bleak. If the pressure of being cut and no longer having a job/career wasn’t enough for Hernandez to stop his actions, what would? We still don’t know if he’s going to found guilty or anything like that but what we do know is that Aaron Hernandez was a deeply troubled individual and it finally hit its end. And so continues the always evolving story surrounding him.
