Ever wondered what Breaking Bad would be like if James Franco played Walter White?

No? Neither have I, but apparently someone who greenlit Homefront did because that’s basically what the movie is about. James Franco saw a role he really liked (Walter White). And so this movie came to be. And that’s it.

There’s really no other way to explain this occasionally watchable but mostly godawful movie in which Jason Statham stars as an ex-DEA agent whose wife has died and left him with a young daughter to raise. He wants to leave the violence behind and live a quiet life in a small town where he and his daughter can enjoy the pleasures of (as Sarah Palin famously called it) “the REAL America”.

They move, and there they soon discover the town is run by an unlikely druglord named Gator (Franco). Yes, Gator. You can pretty much guess where this is going so I’ll stop the plot summary right here.

Strictly for fans of Franco and Statham. And anyone who wants to see a rehash of every Stallone movie from the early 80s.
