“The film has grossed $10.7 million in its first two days domestically. It took in a solid $7 million on the holiday itself but fell a steep 48 percent on Thursday to place No. 8.”[THR]
Let’s call this one Keanu Reeves’s not-so-excellent sword adventure.
The actor’s latest picture 47 Ronin BOMBED at the box-office this weekend, debuting to numbers that even Grudge Match can sneer at. For those keeping track, the best Universal is hoping to recover are its marketing costs, which means it will end up losing $175 million overall.
This officially makes 47 Ronin the second biggest bomb of the year, right after Disney’s colossal floppola, The Lone Ranger, which put the Mouse House $190 million in the red. Thank goodness for Thor and Frozen!
