Remember the 90s? When every action movie starring Harrison Ford basically boiled down to an angry husband and father trying to recover his family from terrorists/thugs/the mafia?

Well, the jig is up. And it’s been passed on to Liam Neeson, who has now rehashed the same righteous revenge formula in numerous action flicks for the middle aged, the latest being Non-Stop.

This one is set on a plane – uh oh- and Neeson is a federal air marshall who has to stop the terrorists that have taken the plane hostage. Julianne Moore is seated in the seat next to him and gets a front row seat to all the action. (Basically, she has to drop her jaw – a lot). Then there’s Oscar nominee Lupita Nyong’o and Downton Abbey leading lady Michelle Dockery as scared little flight attendants. They get the worst dialogue arguably ever given to brilliant actresses. (Seriously, it’s a shame how they’re wasted).

Liam Neeson does his best, which means he says little, elbows a lot, and furrows his brow even more. There are moments of fun, I’ll admit, but they cannot salvage this tired farce that had me going, “No, stop!”
