“According to Mortensen, before that footage preview, ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ had become a money pit, with director Peter Jackson having spent “a lot” to finish the film.”[HuffPo]
Actor Viggo Mortensen who played the secondary hero Aragorn in Peter Jackson’s Academy Award-winning The Lord of the Rings film franchise has some surprisingly harsh words for what he terms Jackson’s over-reliance on special effects to tell the tales. He says to The Telegraph:
“The second movie already started ballooning, for my taste, and then by the third one, there were a lot of special effects. It was grandiose, and all that, but whatever was subtle, in the first movie, gradually got lost in the second and third. Now with ‘The Hobbit,’ one and two, it’s like that to the power of 10.”
He also had zero interest in being in any of the ‘Hobbit’ films, though not because of any bad blood. He just noted that Aragorn does not appear anywhere in The Hobbit.

I like Viggo. He is telling the truth here.
