I read a number of articles about Bennet Omalu, the physician who first discovered the existence of CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) after examining the brains of several deceased NFL players and and knew instantly that they’d turn the story into a film! Lo and behold, we have none other than Will Smith playing the role of Dr. Omalu (he even does the Nigerian accent!) in what appears to be a great film set to score a number of Oscar nominations (Will Smith is already getting Best Actor nods).
So yeah, for those of you looking to avoid “Star Wars” this holiday season, make sure you check out either “Concussion,” “The Big Short,” or “Joy”— all three seem like nice way to spend a couple hours.
More about the film, followed by the trailer:
Set in 2005, the movie is a dramatic storytelling depiction of Bennet Omalu’s race against time to publicize CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) in American football players and games and the attempts by the NFL to deny the problem and to disparage the doctor. Source
