Natalie Portman took a break from motherhood and attended a screening for her directorial debut film “A Tale Of Love And Darkness” at the closing night of the New York Jewish Film Festival. The screening was held at the Walter Reade Theater in NYC.

The film, which began shooting in Jerusalem back in 2014, is based on autobiographical novel by Israeli author Amos Oz. The book first released in 2002 only in Hebrew, but since then it has been translated into 28 languages! The 34-year-old actress will even star in the film as Oz’s mother.

Here’s more about the plot:

Oz chronicles his childhood in Jerusalem at the end of the British Mandate for Palestine and the early years of the State of Israel, and his teenage years on Kibbutz Hulda. As a child, he crossed paths with prominent figures in Israeli society, among them Shmuel Yosef Agnon, Shaul Tchernichovsky, and David Ben-Gurion. One of his teachers was the Israeli poet Zelda. Joseph Klausner was his great-uncle. Told in a non-linear fashion, Oz’s story is interwoven with tales of his family’s Eastern European roots. The family’s name was Klausner. By changing the name to a Hebrew one, Oz rebelled against that European background while affirming loyalty to the land of his birth.

Is she attending a funeral, a conservative movement convention, or a modesty ceremony?!?!?! I don’t understand her,

  • lenilovesfeet

Same with Jessica Alba. Neither can dress, such a shame. A woman doesn’t need to show off a lot of skin to look sexy, but what Natalie and Jessica wear is just too conservative.

  • GrgeCdnBastard

She looked good in the latest Star Wars movie.

  • nrkey

She looks rough, she’s only 34.

  • Dinodan

    GrgeCdnBastard huh?

  • GrgeCdnBastard

Dinodan GrgeCdnBastard Many people think the female lead looks like Natalie Portman.

  • curvefan

    She is not aging well.

  • Dinodan

GrgeCdnBastard Dinodan huh…i don’t see the resemblance other then being slender and brown hair.

  • MoeJackson

    GrgeCdnBastard

I totally agree. I feel like Natalie was the template for the role and they just found another chick who looks like her.

  • Dinodan

MoeJackson GrgeCdnBastard hey, don’t forget about the brunette that started it all

  • McP

Dinodan Toss in Martina Hingis and maybe.

  • IamLegend_2000

Her 50th birthday hit her rather hard I see.

  • Spanglylovesheels

She has passed her expiration date as far as being sexy. Not interested in her film either. I think I liked her as a precocious kid actor and young adult actor the best. Everything from The Professional to Beautiful Girls to Garden State. She was great in those films.

  • Spanglylovesheels

lenilovesfeet Well Natalie seems to have a lot of conservative Jewish traits and Alba seems to be at war with herself about her sexuality. She will pose for sexy photos for money but in her private life she seems almost ashamed of her body.

  • johnconnor777

    time is a cruel mistress

  • Dinodan

Here she is at a few other appearances this week……what is she doing?

  • MoeJackson

Alba is a shrewd business women.
Her beauty and celeb status are her central assets, which she exploits when necessary.

  • nrkey

Dinodan She looked fine on Fallon, maybe she’d had a little nap or something.

  • Spanglylovesheels

MoeJackson You shrewdly said that. Business reasons?
