End of an Era? Scandalous Photog Terry Richardson Gets Dumped By Magazines & Brands

To all of you guys who hated Terry Richardson for the past few years, now is your time to celebrate. In light of the massive Harvey Weinstein earthquake that’s changing the man-whoring landscapes of Hollywood and beyond, various magazines and brands who once worked with the infamously creepy photographer are attempting to quickly distance themselves from the man.

Condé Nast, one of the world’s top publishers of fashion-oriented magazines like Vogue, Vanity Fair, GQ and W, sent out an email to all editors to trash all unpublished Terry-related projects. Telegraph even obtained a copy of an email sent by Condé Nast COO James Woolhouse to staffers:

I am writing to you on an important matter. Condé Nast would like to no longer work with the photographer Terry Richardson.

Any shoots that have been commission[ed] or any shoots that have been completed but not yet published, should be killed and substituted with other material.

Please could you confirm that this policy will be actioned in your market effective immediately. Thank you for your support in this matter.

It’s pretty shocking that publishers are taking action now considering women have pointed the harassment finger at Terry for making them do horndoggy poses over the years. Terry always ran with the claim that all his subjects “participated consensually,” which sounds very similar to Harvey Weinstein’s claim (From Weinstein’s PR: “Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein.”). Here’s Terry’s PR:

“Terry is disappointed to hear about this email especially because he has previously addressed these old stories. He is an artist who has been known for his sexually explicit work so many of his professional interactions with subjects were sexual and explicit in nature, but all of the subjects of his work participated consensually.”

Let’s hope that Terry didn’t blow all the millions he earned from photographing A-list 18-thru-20-somethings over the past few years because it seems like it might be a while until he gets lucrative gigs again.

Here are more photos of Terry working his “I’ll make you even more famous” mojo on a long list of A-list chicks. More photos here.

  • So presumably no women ever had him shoot more than one set for them after their experiences with how he did things, yes? I mean, that must logically follow, right? After all, it’s not like he was the world’s only glam photographer.

Not really I think Miss Miley has had more than one go with him but then again who hasn’t? Look in the dictionary under easy & there’s a picture of Miley ; )

Terry had a private page for a while. In which he uploaded kajillions of unreleased hardcore pictures. Needless to say a lot of the women didn’t like the fact he was doing that. So he took it down. But what it did show is there was never a shortage of models willing to take his big dong for a photoshoot. This will ultimately bite women in the ass. Men will be too scared to exercise their power (which is why men want to become rich/powerful to begin with) this means women will be unable to sleep their way to the top, or spread their legs for a TV, Movie, Modeling gig.

A crusade that will ultimately harm the talentless skanks. Which is what men mostly bone in those industries anyways

  • WeeItsNookies

We just lost a great man. He was a victim of the hive mind/mob mentality nonsense. Such a shame.

  • Jahrgos

I guess if it’s untrue (or maybe true too) we should see all of his model subjects come to his defense? On twitter.

The issue with Richardson has always been that he is essentially the center of the pornification of the fashion industry. His style is always sexing shit up to ridiculousness. If you go to him expecting otherwise, I’ve got some bad news for you. He was always open and vocal about this. That’s far different than Harvey.

    • Spanglylovesheels

Yes. You are a voice of reason Gabbo. I know he is a creep but these honeys pretty much all knew that before they got to the photo shoot. Who is kidding who?! Like Curvefan said above, bartering bodies is part of the deal and they are willing. In the case of Selena and Miley it was clearly to try to distance themselves from their squeaky clean Disney images without resorting to a spread in Playboy.

I am no fan or supporter of the guy but dropping him from all contracts is just knee jerk reaction to Harvey W. If there is proof that Terry has molested underage girls than that is another story altogether.

      • Gabbo

In Terry’s case, I would more blame model/actresses’s agents. Why book their client for something on the fringe, when they are clearly not a fringe player? It’s just a money or fame grab.

Terry isn’t quite blameless. Randomly dropping your pants while working isn’t always going to work. How I Met Your Mother said it only works 1/3 of the time.

  • Curvefan+

I figure the models are like the Hollywood women in that many are very willing to trade their bodies for a shot at stardom. Terry trades a modeling portfolio for sex. The upper tier ones don’t need to “barter” their bodies.

  • IamLegend

I’m so happy to see that without Terry taking her pictures Miley has become the most modest and religious person anyplace……HAHAHAHAHAHAH.

  • Amari

Good riddance. His shoots sucked too, except the one with Miranda.

  • Drew Mcfriend

I’m sure Terry will just move on to the fetish and porn industry. I don’t believe those models are claiming sexual harassment…..yet!

    • Gabbo

I think you missed the whole James Deen period a few years ago. There’s a whole bunch of sexual harassment issues there. It’s way easier to get away with it. The lower actresses are really stuck, since they tend to live gig to gig. He’s the one who inadvertently got Anthony Weiner busted.
