Russell Simmons Falls; Another Prominent Member of Our King Sugar Daddy Category

“I vehemently deny all these allegations. These horrific accusations have shocked me to my core and all of my relations have been consensual.” [Read the full statement at NY Times]

Judging by the first couple sentences of Russell Simmons’s statement on new rape allegations in the NY Times, you can tell he didn’t heed the advice of his expensive PR team.

Expensive PR Team: “Russ, just apologize, admit to everything and say you’re a changed man now. Put all of this to rest ASAP.”

Russell Simmons: “I’m going to fight these false allegations! I want to prove to the world that not all rich and powerful men are man-whores, damn it! I’m a Buddhist, for God’s sake!”

With the exception of Garrison Keillor I have not been shocked or too upset by the men that have been taken down by this wave. Russell here has always seemed like a creep.

I’m fine with the guys that forced women to do things going down. I’m not fine with a woman claiming to be harassed because a man asked her for her telephone number 30 years ago.

Rich, powerful men who don’t take no for an answer acting like rich, powerful men who don’t take no for an answer.

This will not change, but I do hope victims change their behavior as how they respond to it. I hope victims have the courage to respond to it in a more timely manner so these monsters don’t victimize more people.

I hope that’s what was learned from all of this.

  • I’m sure not a single one of these fine erudite women saw him as a shortcut to fame and fortune.

Should he have said – I’m a Buddhist, for Buddha’s sake!”
