Sydney Spies is the high school senior from Durango, Colorado, that for some reason is getting a whole lot publicity for a rejected high school senior portrait deemed too racy for the yearbook. The 18 year old “aspiring model” has gained national attention and hit the media circuit with an appearance on NBC’s Today Show with her mom, Miki Spies.

Sydney submitted two photos that were denied for being “unprofessional” and “innappropriate.” She’s created a Facebook fanpage for people to see the photos in an attempt to capitalize on her current 15 minutes of fame. Says Sydney:

“I want people to know that freedom of expression is essential and censoring yearbooks and people is wrong. I am a fun, loving, determined, outgoing, caring, tenacious person that is willing to go through whatever it takes to make a point. The controversy over my yearbook photograph has become quite the scandal and I believe that we have the right to express ourselves in any form. Love it or hate it, this is who I am.” [Source]
