The pressure is definitely on for Keanu Reeves & that might explain why he actually went through the trouble to shave off his homeless beard that he’s been sporting for the past few years. Since disappearing from the limelight, Keanu did the documentary ‘Side by Side’ where he explored, with the help of Hollywood insiders, experiences working with old-school film and digital. Following that project, he quickly jumped behind the camera for his upcoming action flick “Man of Tai Chi,” with expectations running high ever since the film was announced back in December 2011.

Here’s more from The Hollywood Reporter:

Reeves, now 48, had years of action acting experience — from 1991’s Point Break to The Matrix franchise — to put to use when he stepped behind the camera for the, by all accounts, frenetic kung-fu flick. He’s also had some of the best help in the business, from legendary fight choreographer Yuen Woo-Ping (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), who tells THR that Tai Chi employs a mix of martial-arts disciplines that has never been seen on film before.
